Here are 5 education courses that I have considered taking after my games design course has fully completed in 2017. Here is my research including in a short profile including the type of course, duration, entry requirements, overview etc.

1: Special and Visual Effects- Bolton University
At University Of Bolton they do a 3 year course which In the first year the university is going to educate us on both special and visual effects. Although After the first year doing both of the courses, the second year you have to choose one specific course which you want to do for the rest of the education In Bolton university.
Bolton University Is my first choice because it has a high practical course, Live project briefs and work experience. Bolton university is the UK's first designated digital and creative community which has an £10m built design.


Type of course: Media and creative
Duration: 3 years 

Entry Requirements: No specific qualification needed although the games design course gives more qualifications/Skills needed in this course. 
Fiance: £9,000 per annum- Tuition Fee Loan and the Maintenance Loan once you have graduated and are earning over £21,000.

What do you have to do to start working in that industry?
I’m not 100% sure about what my dream job is since I have two ideas on what I would Like my career to be in the future. At first I wanted to be a concept artist, I wanted to draw, sketch and illustrate artwork for a games industry although I would also like to have a career doing VFX For films. To do this I am doing games design in college to help provide me with the right skills/qualifications I need to do for either of the careers.

I really enjoyed the subject Art and English because most of the teachers did compliment my art and tried persuading me into doing it as an Btec because they believed I would be one of the top students because of my dedication and imagination. Although I didn’t follow art as one of my options (which I do regret) I loved being able to try different techniques within the lesson as well as getting positive and even negative feedback of the class or the teachers because it allowed me to know what I need to do to better. Even though I am bad with my spelling and forgetting words due to my learning difficulty dyspraxia. I loved English, I loved writing stories and being able to express myself which I couldn’t do In person. The teachers did agree that my imagination made my course work so much better although grammar and spelling mistakes wasn’t my strong point.

I Worked in irlam endowed in a year 3 classes as a teacher assistant. I did several tasks such as reading one to one with a child, following out lessons/preparing for the lesson, Working with  kids who had learning difficulties/found their work difficult which the teacher said the children did ten times better with my help, I helped out in sports and was on play time duties. I loved doing this as a work experience because It allowed me how to communicate with different personalities and allowed me to help the children. At the end of the work experience we got given an report and My report basically said that I did better than they expected and they would love for me to come back to do  more work experience if I had the free time.

I love to read because I think reading helps your imagination to grow and it’s amazing how reading a book can make you escape reality and you can easily imagine what that scenario is in the book- what it looks like etc. I have read several books but my favourites are; Once, then, The harry potter series, Jacqueline Wilson and many more including fictional and non-fictional books. I do a lot of art including drawing with pencils, colours, water colouring, pastels etc. I also make a lot of creativity things like creating an exploding box etc. I believe that Anything personal which you have spent your own time in is a lot better than something rushed. I watch a lot of films mainly being horror or comedy and I socialise with family and friends as much as I can if I have enough time after doing course work etc. I love animals, Any animals no matter how big or small. I have had several pets such as gunnies pigs, toads, piranha, Red belly news, Dogs, Tortoise, hamsters and I was responsible for training them for instance I have trained all 4 of my dog- in the past and in the present. Including teaching them sitting, lie down, roll over, paw, stay, ‘dance’ and say please.  I do well with computers to, hardware and internal for example I have taken apart several computers and fixed their fan etc and I have a lot been able to do reset, restore and fix an computer which had difficulty even turning on.

Task 1 - Portfolio

I created an portfolio using the website 'WordPress' I did this because Online because it allows me to present my work in a more professional way for example it is easier to find my work in my portfolio because of all the different ways you can organize the portfolio. Another reason why I created the portfolio is because it increases the chances off my portfolio being seen for instance when someone googles my name my portfolio should appear.

When you first click on my portfolio website you can see a gallery with featured images which will display whats in the post's as well as an caption like 'Colours', 'objects' when the featured image is being hovered over.
The Posts includes the different techniques I have used for instance When the featured image is clicked, all the work i have done will be under that particular post. Most of the posts are displaying my art in an tiled appearance which gives my portfolio an more organised look. I have captioned each individual art so when I explain what medium I used to complete the art work, how long it took me to do and an basic overlook/Evaluation of my personal opinion towards my work. Its easier to know what piece of work I am explaining. 







Colour


 – Colour Wheel Exercise
The color wheel includes secondary and primary colors as well as the tertiary colors. We filled in our own color wheel by using an template and felt tip markers which involved having to use parallel and cross hatching to mix the felt tip markers. For example In the primary colors I just used red, yellow and blue but to mix the red and yellow to create an orange I had to use parallel lines using both the felt tips to create an orange effect. Although It was a lot more trickier for the tertiary colors for instance for tertiary color closer to the red means that color will have more red than yellow while the tertiary color closer to the yellow means it needs more yellow than orange. This created an gradual shade from red to yellow. This took me 15 minutes to complete and I am happy with the overall appearance of this colour wheel because I think it is easy to tell which colour is which for instance you can easily tell the difference between the red and the orange.

– Analogous Colour Scheme Exercise
Analgous colour scheme is any three colors closed together in the colour wheel for instance I used blue, green and yellow but you could also use red, purple and orange or red, orange and yellow etc. In this exercise We couldn’t let the same colour touch it self for instance I couldn’t let the blue be facing another blue. This created an ‘abstract’ colored effect, taking me only 15/20 minutes to color in the template ‘calm’. We used an size A3 sized paper orintanted portrait and used felt tip markers to colour it in.

 – Complementary Colour Scheme Exercise
Complementary color scheme is two colors facing opposite each other on the color wheel for example red and green are opposite and so is orange and blue etc. We had to color in letters ‘vibrating’ which is on an A3 piece of paper orientated portrait. I used the felt tips red and green and colored in each box containing the letter making sure the same color isn’t touching it self. This took me only 15 minutes to complete and I am happy with how bold and eye catching the colors are.

– Triadic Colour Scheme Exercise
Triadic color scheme is using colors in a triangle so either the primary or secondary colors for example using only the red, blue and yellow or the orange, green and purple. I got given an template with different shapes on which i decided to colour in using felt tips and the primary triadic color scheme. This took me overall 15 minutes to complete and I am happy with the finished look although If i had to do it again I would try and be more neat and keep the colors from going out of the line. i used the same technique as the complementary color scheme and the analogous color scheme and made sure that the same color wasn’t touching it self. For example having a blue block next to another blue block.

Work In my Own Time
In this Post I am adding art work which I have drawn mostly from secondary research within my own time  (Other than college course work). I Love finding images from online and then drawing them free hand with my favorite medium which is an ordinary pencil. I like using pencil because its easy to give the drawing dimension due to the different shades for shading. In my drawings such as spider man, 2 PAC and various of other Disney characters I like doing black and white but I also change the drawing and not always stick to the original photograph which Is online to make it more original and give it my own effect.

I am recently practicing with different mediums such as water colors, acrylic paint, pencil colors and soft pastels to help widen my art gallery and give me more of an ability to do different techniques.
*Most of these drawings have been done as an hobby and over different time laps so my drawings appearance might look different through out the drawings.


Ideas
For this exercise I used a pencil to draw out ideas what a party blower could be used for. It took me half hour to complete and If i could improve this exercise I would add more detail to the ideas but over all I do think some of my ideas are original and creative.

Textures



I used soft and oil pastels to do zoomed up/different angles of different objects, flooring and features around college. For instance for the soft pastel I drew the reception floor, books, Students areas floor and a plant in the reception.

For the Oil pastel I drew the flooring outside, Flooring In the car park, A fan net/Box outside the IT block and draw sticks in the mood. 
This took one hour to complete both of the sheets so it was approximately 5 minutes to draw each of the features/flooring. In conclusion I preferred using the soft pastels because I personally think it is easier to add more effect, mix colors and it gives more of an texture while the oil pastels were stiff and hard to smudge/blend although I am not happy with how either the soft or oil pastel exercise have turned out because I think i could of put in at least more detail if I had a longer time to do complete this exercise.

Objects


line drawing techniqueFor this exercise I used a pen and a ruler to fill in a template to practice how to do different shades in pen for example doing lines going from light to dark and casting shadows on a cone just by using a pen. This took me overall half hour to do, usually I would use a pencil which makes it much easier to do gradual lines or shading due to how soft the led in a pencil is. So doing this exercise was a bit out of the ordinary for me especially because I dont usually draw with a pen and just normally use it for writing so this exercise was a complete new technique for me. I personally think I finished this acceptably well although I think I could improve the shading and darkness of some of the strokes done by the pen. 
Blended Shading Technique Exercise
This exercise included several mediums/Items for instance I set up a still life image using paper cups, plates and cutlery which then I cello taped together and Put an A4 piece of paper as the background, sides and floors to make it easier to notice the shadows coming off the still image. I then did an observational drawing using willow charcoal, starting with the light and then spraying it with hair spray to keep the charcoal fixed in place. Afterwards I went in again to add the shadow and blending it with a paper towel. This helped create more of an blending technique. The setting up and doing the charcoal took an overall an hour and 30 minutes to complete and I am happy with the finished exercise. I am happy with how the willow charcoal turned out because it is my first time using charcoal to complete a still image.


Anatomy

– Primary Observation Portraits Exercise

Full Face
In this exercise i rotated the paper so it was portrait rather than landscape i did this because I was doing an challenge where i had to draw a portrait of a colleague while using my alternative hand for example using my left hand and not my right hand. I used a Biro to draw this p

ortrait and timed my self with only 4 minutes to complete this image. Overall I think i could improve this image by using my time more sensibly for instance taking less time to do the hair and more time on something which is more likely to catch more attention such as the eyebrows or the eyes. Although I think I did rather well considering I didn’t use my dominant hand to draw this drawing so i personally wasn’t used to the technique.



Cheesey Smile
This portrait was done in landscape and was to focus and ‘zoom’ into a cheeky smile which was modeled by another colleague and I used my right hand and a Biro to draw this portrait. Positioning the paper landscape made it more easier to stretch the smile out from left to the right hand side of the paper and then using the rest of the 5 minutes to add other features such as the eyes and nose. If i could go back and change this drawing i would do the nose first before the eyes because an improved nose would of made a huge difference in the appearance of the portrait. 

Tonal Face
I had 6 minutes to draw a tonal portrait of another colleague using a Biro and my right hand. I made sure the paper was a portrait other than landscape because i had to do an full face portrait using horizontal and vertical lines. I found this technique difficult because i personally dont think this technique gives you a lot of freedom to do different shapes on the portrait even though you could cross the vertical and horizontal lines. For example I couldn’t get the face shape or the nose shape in the shape that i wanted to which i was disappointed with although If I had more time and a lot more practice i think this technique could have a lot more potential

Freehand
This portrait was done free handed this means that I had the choice of what technique i wanted to do for example cross hatching, normal, dont stop etc. And I also got to choose what media i was going to use for instance the two media which we was using for this exercise includes colored marker pens and a Biro. I choose to do a free hand portrait using the method normal while using Biro. I wanted to do this because i think the Biro allows you to quickly draw the portrait without being to over powering and if i had enough time (I only had 6 minutes) I would of been able to put in more detail although colored markers are much thicker and wouldn’t allowed me to put in the small detail if i wanted it to. In this portrait the colleague was modeling mid way through an side view and a front view angle because this gave the portrait a little bit more challenge but also a lot more dimension.

Blindfolded
In this portrait i was basically blind folded because I had 4 minutes to draw a portrait using my normal hand although i was only allowed to look at the colleague and not allowed to look at the piece of paper while drawing. I used a colored marker of my choice because it would of been easier than using an Biro for this exercise just because the pen is more thicker so i wouldn’t have to worry about missing any of the paper because i wasn’t allowed to look at the paper while drawing. I think I did good on this exercise because the mouth, nose etc is in place although the mustache and other features didn’t have much detail and at the wrong angle.



Don’t Stop
I only had 3 minutes to do this portrait which I wasn’t allowed to remove my colored marker from the paper because I wasn’t allowed to stop hense all the lines joining up the features. Because i wasn’t allowed to move my pen of the paper any time it meant that some of my features was gonna be close to each other such as joining the eyes up to the noise to try and reduce any random line drawing on the portrait. I like this drawing because it does fill up all the paper and is big and bold which is very eye catching although If i could improve the drawing I would move the mouth into an more suitable area such as not moving the mouth so far away from the nose. 

Eye See
In this portrait i had to focus on the shading of the image for example light to dark shading within the portrait. even though we had 6 minutes to complete this drawing using our normal hand and using a colored marker which was an reasonable task. I do not feel happy with my complete portrait because i dont think it does show the shades of light to dark very well so if i could improve the portrait i would change the colors of the markers and do the shadowing more precisely. For instance putting the shadow on an side of the face which would of been darker because of the indoor lightening.

-Primary Observation Figures Exercise
This exercise I sketched several figures which i did directly from life. For example I drew the figures by getting one of my siblings to go into the walking position, sleeping position, standing and sitting position afterwards I sketched their position using a pencil. Because I didn’t do much detail on the face etc and just focused on the position of the body each sketch only took me 10-15 minutes. So overall this exercise took me an estimation of an hour to complete. I put the orientation of the paper to landscape other than portrait because i wanted more room to do extra examples of the figure positions.
I am quite happy with the finished examples because I do personally believe that each position is realistic but yet basic.

– Primary Observation Expressive Hands Exercise

In this exercise i used a pencil to sketch and shade four observational images of non dominant hand (Left hand). I Drew four hands suggesting anger, stop, okay and peace on a landscape piece of paper which I split into four sections.

It took me an hour sketch and shade this exercise. In conclusion I think this exercise is up to standards because my sketches look realistic as well as being big and bold. Another reason I am happy with this exercise Is because I think it is easy to see what each hand sketch is suggesting without any labels of the action.

– Secondary Observation Gridded Exercise
I choose an female parkour app character which Then was printed out into a grid. I had two A4s both with the exact same grid which my secondary image had. I positioned the two A4s upside down as well as my secondary image which then i proceeded filling in each grid individually on my grid A4 piece of paper just like the secondary image was shaded. I wanted to use an pencil to do the gridding technique because it would be easier to add more dimension, detail and easier to rub out any mistakes than if I used a pen or a felt tip. I did the drawing upside down because i wanted to do each grid individual so if I drew the picture upside down I wouldn’t see the picture as a face but as lines, shades and shapes like an abstract image just like an printer or computer would originally do although If i positioned the paper the right way It would present the full Image as a face etc. It took me one/two hours to fully complete both A4 images and i am satisfied with the finished exercise because I believe I put the right amount of detail Into each grid which gave me an overall appearance which is similar to the secondary observation grid template.

– Secondary Observation Mythical Creature Exercise
For this exercise i found several images on the internet to get secondary observation images which I could draw for example i found an image of an peacocks head, wing of a bat, Torso of a man, Crab Claws, legs of a cheetah, feet of an eagle which I then drew free handed by a pencil. Once I was happy with the sketch of my secondary observation mythical creature I colored it in by using various of different colors on the different sections. For example for the head I used green, blues, purples just like the color of an original peacock while On the cheetah legs I used orange, red, yellow, black and gray. This overall took me an hour to complete, the coloring being the most time consuming. But I am extremely happy with the overall image of this exercise because I think all the colors and the features fit in together really well for example legs look attached to the torso.

– Secondary Observation Tracing Exercise
working with a partner we took turns into taking a series of photographs based on different actions such as leaning, forward, punch, grabbing, reaching, lunging and kicking at the camera. We did this by using different angles, zooms and changing the view point of the camera to get different photographs which gave us more of a chance to get an picture to our preference. Once we was happy with the pictures I choose One out of ten and grabbed some tracing paper and a pencil and placed the tracing paper over the printed photograph of my choice and proceeded to trace over the photograph. The photo shoot took half hour for the two of us to get a various amount of photographs doing the actions and another half hour to pick, edit and trace the image of our choice. I am overall happy with how the tracing turned out however I would add more detail if I could although That wasn’t necessary to do.

– Construction Drawing Manga Head Exercise
For this exercise we did secondary observational exercise but instead of an image it was by following an construction manga drawing you tube video. The video shown us how to do an male and female manga heads both showing different emotions for instance the female is embarrassed while the male is happy. I did this by using pencil and a rubber on a landscape piece of paper although I am not happy with the overall look of this exercise. This is because I struggled to get the correct shapes and shading for the manga head because I have never drawn ‘anime’ characters before So i found this quite difficult and took me over an hour to do both drawings.


– Silhouette Figure Drawing Exercise

Using an dark colored pen I drew a series of 8 silhouettes on two sheets of A3 paper split into 4 orientated landscape. I did this by using a Dark purple and drawing real life figures in an verity of different locations around college. This Took me over an hour to do and I am completely not happy with the finished exercise. This is because It was difficult to draw figures in real life due to the fact they kept moving, this led to a few mistakes and an unrealistic figure on paper for instance some of the silhouettes look more like a blob than a particular position like sitting or standing.

Perspective

- Isometric Perspective Exercise
For this exercise I did an isometric perspective drawing of an F. Isometric Perspective is an method to get 3D objects by drawing lines. For example as you can see in my exercise labeled 'Isometric Perspective Exercise', In the top left hand corner there is an 30 degrees triangle which is demonstrating that the lines had to be on a 30 degree. As you can see all the lines being on an 30 degree triangle made the Letter Fs side more equal and made it easier to know where to put the sides of The F to give an 3D effect. After I put the lines In I used a ruler to put in the horizontal lines which is the width of the F. Once I was happy with the width of the letter I started to shade it in. At the top of the letter the shading would be more darker than it is at the sides of the F because of the 3D dimension. Overall it took me 15 minutes to complete this exercise and I am personally happy with the completed look because The letters sides and widths are all equal giving it a flawless 3D effect although I would be more careful with the darkness off my shading such as Making it more noticeable that the top is darker than the sides. I did this drawing by using pencil to sketch and shade in the F on a A4 portrait template.

- Single Point Perspective Exercise
This exercise is creating a 3D letter but by using the single point perspective method. This method shows how things get smaller and bigger due to the distance of the vanishing point. As you can see there is an Letter M and an vanishing point in the distance at the right corner. The vanishing point is where I started to draw the lines from in the middle to the point to the edge of the letters by using a pencil and a ruler. Once all the lines was met to the edges of the M it gave the letter its sides so I drew horizontal lines In to create the width of the M. Because the vanishing point is quite far back In the right corner it made the left sided corner seem a lot more bigger than the right hand side. I did this on a Letter M template on a landscape A4 paper. This whole exercise took me 15 minutes to complete and I am quite happy with how the letter 3D dimension turned out.

- Two Point Perspective Exercise
Two point perspective is where there is two vanishing points, as you can see on my exercise there is an vanishing point in the top-right hand corner and another in the top-left hand corner. This is so it looks more realistic than the single vanishing point, this is done by the vanishing point giving it more of an angle which gives it more of an effect than the single or the isometric. I did this exercise by using the A3 template which was orientated landscape to give the vanishing points more 'room'. I then completed the lines with an pencil and a ruler, Once done I shaded in the sides to give it more dimension.
This took me a bit longer than the previous perspective points although it did overall only take 25/30 minutes to complete this whole exercise including the shading. I am happy with How the two point perspective exercise looks once completed although I found it more difficult.

- Three Point Perspective Exercise
The three point perspective Is where there is three different vanishing points. This helps gives an effect of an object from either a high or low point of view, As you can see in my exercise labeled 'Three Point Perspective Exercise' the letter H looks like it is more 3D as it gets taller because of the dimension that the 3 vanishing points are creating. This took me longer than 30 minutes to complete due to the fact that I found this exercise much more difficult than any of the previous perspective points but considering I was struggling to use the three point perspective method using a pencil and a ruler I am still extremely happy with the completion of the exercise. This is because I think the Letter H I created does give the right effect by using the vanishing points and the correct shading.

- Two Point Perspective Space station Exercise
For this exercise I used the two point perspective method to complete a space station by using an secondary observation video tutorial online. I began By putting an vanishing point at the right hand side and the left hand side using an meter ruler and a pencil. i had to use a bigger rule because the paper was an landscape A3 piece of paper so an normal ruler would of fit across the page which could result in a curved line etc. It took me two lessons (Two hours) To sketch and shade in this spaceship by following the tutorial because their was a lot of lines and detail to put in and I found it difficult to position the ruler in the correct position to give the tower the 3D look. Once sketched and shaded I went over the lines with a Marker to make the spaceship more eye catching. over all I am happy with how the exercise looks although If I was to do this exercise again I would add more shading/shadows to the drawing to reduce the 'flatness' In the spaceship and give it more of a three dimensional look in some areas.

-Crated Primitive Objects
This exercise includes different sizes of a 3D Gridded box template, A4 Landscape paper and a pencil and a rubber. This technique is used to give complex shape such as a car, building or a ball a 3D effect. For example for the sphere I started with a flat circle in the centre of the cube template, making sure the circle met the sides afterwards I put in more flat circles at different angles within the box still making sure that it met all of the edges. This gave it an overall 3D effect of an Ball being in a box. All these exercises took over an hour to do (20 minutes per one). Although I found the Torus the most difficult so overall I would put more detail within the torus because im not 100% happy with the overall appearance.
